So, again, I’ve failed you. It’s been a little while and I promised to let you know what I was talking about in terms of April 23rd right after the last blog. Well, I got really sick for a couple days leading up to surgery. And, then I had surgery. You’ll just have to forgive me for not feeling like writing a blog.
Anyway, last Tuesday the MBA program threw me a “good luck” dinner before going into surgery, which was awesome. I was totally expecting for it to be a lot like our normal socials that we have been having all semester, except maybe a few more people might stop by and say good luck or something. Well, I was wrong. It started off like a normal social but then my sister showed up. Then, a couple of my friends showed up. I had no idea that they were going to be there and I was pretty surprised to see them. I didn’t really think much of it at the time.
Subsequently, my sister went up to the front of the room and gave a really emotional, heartfelt, and awesome speech about me. Almost a living eulogy (ha). But, it was one of the coolest moments in my life. I’ll never forget it. Then, they announced that she and one of my friends had put together something special for me. I had no idea what to expect. Turns out, they went around and filmed a bunch of people from the MBA program and my friends outside the program saying nice things and wishing me good luck. It was seriously so cool. I was blown away. As most of you know, I’m never speechless. I was freakin’ speechless after that.
Anyhow, there was more. The MBA program announced that it is going to rent out Stephen’s Lake Park and bring in a bunch of breweries, games, and bands to host a benefit festival for me. I can’t believe how much work they have done on my behalf. It’s amazing. I’m so thankful. So, come join me and, hopefully, about a thousand other people for a family-friendly fun day of beer, bands, games, and prizes. You can buy tickets at www.festival.collaborationcancer.com. Also, the really awesome video that they made for me is at the bottom of the page. Feel free to take a look!
Tell your friends!
P.S. Surgery blog and progress will be posted tomorrow. I promise. I’m writing it now!
